High Neck Size Guide: How to Measure Before Ordering

Bundle of 3 ribbed high neck turtleneck sweaters in maroon, white and black, laid flat — The Divine Shop

The most useful starting point for buying a high neck online is a top you already like wearing. Measure that garment flat and compare it with the specific product's size chart. Size names vary between styles, so a familiar label alone is not enough.

Measure your reference top

  1. Lay the top on a flat surface and smooth out folds without stretching it.
  2. Measure across the chest from one underarm seam to the other.
  3. Measure the body length using the same starting point shown in the seller's chart.
  4. Record sleeve length and shoulder width if the chart includes them.
  5. Write down the units beside every measurement.

Flat chest width and body chest circumference are different measurements. A top measuring 20 inches across the chest has an approximate garment circumference of 40 inches, but that does not automatically mean it fits a 40-inch body chest. Intended ease, construction and stretch matter. Compare like-for-like measurements and ask for clarification if the chart does not explain its method.

Think about how you will wear it

For a highneck under a jacket, compare against an inner layer you already wear comfortably. For a standalone relaxed outfit, use a looser reference top. Do not stretch the garment while measuring to make it match a chart. Extra stretch is not a substitute for choosing suitable measurements.

Check bundle sizing carefully

The current Ribbed Highnecks — Pack of 3 description lists Small–Medium and Large–Extra Large size options and directs shoppers to its size-chart image. Those labels apply to that listing; they should not be treated as a size chart for every highneck in the store. Confirm the options shown when ordering.

Do not forget the neckline

Consider whether you prefer the neck close to the body or with more space. Product photographs can show the neckline shape, but they cannot tell you exactly how tight it will feel. If neck opening or collar height is important and the measurements are missing, ask the store before purchasing.

Keep your measurements for future comparisons. Explore highneck sweaters and bundles, or read the basic versus oversized fit guide to narrow your choice.
